Travel to Timisoara

.

1. By plane

The city is served by Romania’s third-largest airport, Traian Vuia International Airport, located 10km away from the city center. It is the hub of Romania’s second-largest airline, Carpatair. There are regular flights from/to numerous major European and domestic destinations:

  • TAROM has five daily direct flights to Bucharest.
  • Lufthansa has three daily direct flights to Munich.
  • Wizz Air has direct flights to Barcelona, Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Charleroi, Dortmund, Forli, Frankfurt, London Luton, Madrid, Memmingen, Paris Beauvais, Rome Fiumincio, Torino, Treviso, and Valencia.

Express Bus line 4 links the airport with downtown Timisoara (fare: 2 Lei ~ 0.5 Euro (one way), tickets available at the parking ticket pay desk inside the terminal); car hire is also available.

.

2. By train

There are direct trains daily from Budapest (a 5 hours trip), Belgrade (4 hours), Vienna (8 hours) and Munich (15 hours). Naturally, there are also numerous trains to Bucharest and most major towns in Romania.

3. Public transport

You can use bus, tram or trolleybus (see the map of network public transport in Timisoara). The tickets can be bought from any kiosk (the price per trip is about 0.5 euro).

.

4. Taxi

We recommend you Tudo Taxi, Fan Taxi, Radio Taxi or Pro Taxi (see the name of company on the car)! These companies have fair prices (about 0.4 euro per kilometre). Attention! Under no circumstances, should you use the private taxi, which have only the word “TAXI” written (they are authorized, but are very expensive – you can see these kind of taxi especially at the Airport and Train Station).
